" We have always longed for our liberty, and because of that, we often undervalue
where we come from. But this is "growing up" or "making our way in the world",
this weaving together of old and new, this keeping the best of what made us
who we are, and yet, making something of our own "
Kinfolk Vol. V
We are not city people.
We wear this place like a hand-me-down wool sweater,
the sleeves are slightly too long, and the collar either itches in the heat or leaves us feeling slightly chilled.
It wasn't made to fit us, its too tight in places, huge in others.
Its often too cold here, the streets are filled with honking and sirens,
But we are slowly carving our own home here, and it feels good.
This weekend will bring us our first shared christmas tree hunt, and the start of the weaving together of our family holiday traditions and the creating of our own.

Kaya, do you write poetry? Or like, other stuff? Stuff besides this blog, I mean. Cause you're good with words, ma'am.
Love this. I'm with ya on the not being a city person. You put it beautifully :)
Beautiful pictures! This looked like a lot of fun, and I love your rainbow striped coat!
