The sun sank in the sky,as we stood by the river,Hand in hand.We listened to the melting ice song, full of chimes and tinkles as it made its way over the rushing water.
And felt like singing along.

Whats your spring happy moment?

the five dollar robin.

The spring when I was around 7,my Sunday school teacher  at the time proposed a contest.I imagine it followed some sort of creation lesson, perhaps one to do with birds. What I do remember is,whoever saw the first Robin would win five dollars. And so it came to be that I would diligently go out to the apple tree's in the front yard and watch for the elusive red breasted creature.Everyday I wanted more and more to see Mr. Robin, but alas, the bird didn't seem to share the wish to see the scrawny red braided girl. Finally the glorious day arrived.I remember very vividly the flash of red and black, the soft ground sinking under my rubber boots, the smell of damp earth. The way the sun looked as it shone down on my prize robin hopping around beneath the trees.I immediately ran inside to telephone my teacher.Five dollars was mine! Oh the riches of two tooneys,a looney and a few quarters bring (nearly a fortune in the eyes of a seven year old).I cannot tell you what I did with the money, nor what happened to that serendipitous bird. The years have passed and I have grown older,my legs are not so scrawny,my teeth fit nicely in my mouth,And five dollars has sadly ceased to be a fortune. But I still get that little excited thrill when the snow begins ro melt away, and I'm transported back to that time beneath apple blossoms. One day Mike and I will have littles of our own,and together,we'll take them adventuring through the woods and perhaps I'll tell them the story of my very first robin. And maybe, just maybe,We'll try to find one for ourselves.

Yours,
K

Words

"Date a girl who takes photographs. Date a girl whose favourite sound is the click-click of the shutter as it closes and opens to capture a memory. Date a girl who sees beauty in the simplest of things. Date a girl who looks at the world and wonders how to put a little of herself into it.
You might find her in the park, lost behind her lens, the world a blur around her as she tries to capture a single moment in time. You might find her in an exhibit, a look of concentration on her face as she contemplates a photograph that called out to her as she was passing by.  Or maybe you will find her in a bookstore, a book in her lap as she pores over photographs of weddings all the while wondering what hers would look like.
Take her out to photo walks and laugh as she tries to take a picture of you. When she gets tired of walking, buy her cupcakes but wait until she has taken pictures of them before eating them. Listen as she tells you her ideas for a photoshoot on the ride home.
Take her to a restaurant and wait patiently as she surveys the menu carefully, appreciating the food photography. And again, wait until she has taken a photo of your food before digging in. Allow her to introduce you to Ansel Adams while you both eat your lunch. Introduce her to your favorite musician as you wait for the bill to arrive. When you get home, change your Facebook profile picture to a photograph she has taken of you. She silently hopes for it.
Take stolen shots of her. Compile it and give it to her on her birthday. Tell her you love her over and over until your voice replaces the click of the shutter as her favourite sound. Kiss her on the nose as she lifts her head up from the camera. Give her camera-shaped necklaces. Go places with her.
You will never be bored again.
Date a girl who takes photographs. She will never whine about a little dirt on her favourite pair of jeans as she kneels down to get a better angle of her subject. She will never be afraid to go on adventures with you. She will take photographs of you not just with her camera but with her mind as well and keep it to herself to admire late at night. But above all, she will teach you how to look at the world through different perspectives and she will do so unknowingly.
Marry a girl who takes photographs. Ditch those wedding photography books and give her the most beautiful wedding you could. She will teach your kids to find the beauty in everything just as she has taught you. Every day will be an adventure as she tries to create memories photograph-worthy with you. She may wake you up in the middle of the night because she is buzzing with ideas but she will make it up in the morning with a stack of hot pancakes beside a steaming cup of your favourite coffee blend.
Grow old with a girl who takes photographs. Sit with her on the front porch as you both pore over the bits and pieces of the moments you’ve shared together. Stroke her hair as you both relive the photo walks that you took and the places you went when you were both young. Smile as you both reenact your clever wedding vows.
Date a girl who takes photographs because she will never let anyone take you away from her like she will never let anyone steal her photographs. Because she will inspire the heck out of you. Because she will always see that “something” in the most “nothing” of things."

Gahh.
How does one even find the words to describe the best day of life thus far?
Magical.
He had meticulously planned every detail, driving my overactive curiosity into a fine frenzy as I simply could not figure out where and when he would "pop the question" as they say.A few weeks ago I proposed a ski adventure, and he graciously allowed me to believe that it was my idea.So friday dawned, the idea crossed my mind that maybe..just maybe today was THE day,but quickly discarded it as it was after all the day I "planned".
So together we collected the snacks, our game of choice and set out.The sun shone down on the fresh snow, just as it had on that day two years before when he asked me out. And just like that day our ski's plowed through the drifts, our laughs and songs rang through the trees and excitement was in the air.We reached the cabin and a fire was built, tea was brewed and poured, the snacks were pulled out and scrabble was waiting. He pulled a folded note out of his pocket and read me the most beautiful poem he had written for me.My mind and heart were racing, and due to that, only halfway through did I actually realize it was a poem. The poem ended and he quickly grabbed something from his pack, knelt infront of me and asked me the single most wonderful question in the world.
and I said
OF COURSE!!
The tea? never finished. And that scrabble game? well it'll have to wait.
But that day, something more then a ring was given to me.It was a promise.A promise that I'll get to spend the rest of my days with my best friend. And thats the best part of all.

Gahhh.

If ya like it then.........

My Best friend asked me to marry him............and I said......OF COURSE!!!

Yours in overwhelming joy,
K
