500 days of Autumn

500 days of Autumn

Tuesday 3 January 2012

The perfect cup of tea can evoke a myriad of different emotions.

First. The sense of adventure. You run your fingers over the various tins, jars and bags. You pause to ask yourself " What tea mood am I in? Dreamy Chamomile? Melancholy earl grey? Bold Chai?
Perhaps you take the weather in to consideration. The sunbeams drawing you towards the bright floral leaves, the dark winter clouds push you into the warm arms of smoky vanilla.
Whatever you choose, you know you will spend the next hour with a friend, old or new.

After adventure, comes Anticipation. The joyous whistle of the kettle, the clink of the spoon and soft sigh of the steam. Your favorite mug sits waiting to be filled then emptied. The ceremony is about to begin.
The First sip. Excitement. Contentment.  Contemplative.
The mist swirls around your nose, maybe even creeping into the corners of your eyes as you think of someone far away, or trace the letters on a page of some wistful story. The warmth embraces your tongue, the taste, your soul.
The middle of the cup, or Betwixt and Between.
The momentary journey is starting to come to a close. The heat is starting to wane, the flavour,at its strongest. This cup will soon fade into the mural made up of tiny memories. But for a few seconds longer, you will remain in this tranquil frame of mind.

The Bottom. The Grand Finale.
And so Friends, we have reached the end. The last drop is delicately perched on the lip of the mug, the smell lingers in the air and you are left with a lovely case of the "Warm and Fuzzies".

What's your tea story?
